Very detailed and helpful. I'm still working on my scaredy cat dog but this has been the most helpful thing I've encountered. There are so many little things that influence your dogs behavior, you don't realize until you read this book that you may be making things worse. The training tips and examples are very helpful. I just wish I had read this 8 months ago when I got my dogs.Product details

Help for Your Fearful Dog A StepbyStep Guide to Helping Your Dog Conquer His Fears edition by Nicole Wilde Crafts Hobbies Home eBooks Reviews
This is one of my favorite dog behavior books in the last 5 years. As a dog trainer and behavior consultant, I have been recommending this book to my clients as a complement to their training programs. They love it! They are so glad to have a resource that they can share with family members and friends to help everyone better understand their dog. Nicole Wilde does an excellent job of presenting information in a way that is easy for the average dog owner to understand, but still keeps it interesting for the professional dog trainer.
I give it 5 stars and 4 Paws up!
Love this book. It touches on all our issues of our fearful adopted dog. We are working on each fear, one at a time.
This book has been very insightful and helpful. I was really struggling to figure out how to help my little Sydney. She is the most lovable dog inside our home and around our surrounding back-yard, but when it is time for her walks outside the comfort of our home she become nervous and shack's all over. I just didn't know what to do, since she grew up in the same nurturing environment as her big sister. I figured since Sydney had the same kind of love, training, and attention as Ripley what would cause her to be so fearful. After reading this book (thank goodness) I realized Sydney needed special care or sensitive attention to her needs, plus encouragement and reassurance that everything outside the home is OKAY.. I give this book a 5 Star rating because it takes the reader through the steps of basic training, what is important to your dog and how they look to you for confidence. I recommend you read the book from Chapter 1 through the end, since all the information builds on itself so in the end you have all the tools necessary to help your dog. Loved it! I will continue to refer back to it! A must have! Thanks Nicole! Because of our book it gave me and my partner a new perspective. We are already seeing the results.
I had a very timid dog just 3 weeks ago. But now our pup is only a little shy, thanks to the tips I learned from this book. The progress our dog has made - because of the progress WE, her humans, have made - is absolutely amazing! The book provides very easy step-by-step positive training tips that are extremely useful for modifying unwanted behavior and increasing confidence of fearful, perfectly sociable AND agressive dogs. In addition to training it covers a variety of other topics too.
This is a must-read for all dog owners that have even minor behavioral challenges (that would be every single person who lives with a dog), and especially for those who are at their wit's end with their pets.
Very highly recommended!!!
This book is one of the best, if not THE best, on helping the fearful dog. It has helped me so much with my new rescue dog. Zeus had been in a shelter since the age of five weeks and spent 5 years there. I adopted him 4 months ago. Everything in the book has been helpful to us... so much so that when my parents rescued a fearful dog I sent them this book as a gift.
Whether you have a dog who is skittish at best or panic stricken at worst, this book will help.
My wife & I rescued a beautiful 3 yr old boy and it turns out he has a fear of men & especially me inside our home. This book excellently written by Nicole Wilde has been an incredible help with our boy. I recommend it to anyone that has a dog with various fear issues.
Invaluable help in trying to save an abuse rescued, fearful Chihuahua. Yes, "fearful" Chihuahua. She screamed if you picked her up, screamed if you put her down, and only sat on the edge of the couch or in a corner away from everyone. How not to proceed with her helped me just as much as what to do. As you can see by the pic, she is happily lounging on her pillow! Finally. Thank you!
