Simon is not sure he'll ever find the right sub for him. His last relationship ended badly, but he's determined not to let it rule his life, so he heads for the Hammer, his favorite members-only club. A man never knows what will come his way at the Hammer, and at least his friends there know and love him.

Big, buff cowboy Jeremy just got a job as a bouncer at the Hammer, and he thinks Simon is the hottest thing he's seen in a long time. He'd never found a Dom who suits him, but Simon might just be the thing to cure his bedroom blues.

Their relationship heats up fast, but just as things seem to be as good as they can get, tragedy strikes. All of their friends from the Hammer gather to support Jeremy and Simon, but all of the support in the world might not be enough to make Jeremy let Simon in again. Can Simon hold it together long enough to convince Jeremy they're worth the effort, no matter what?

I love the Hammer series and this book is as good as the first. Definately worth buying. I love the relationship between Simon and Jeremy and how well they came together. I most definately recommend getting this if you are at all interrested in bdsm, or even trying it if you aren't sure. There is definately a wonderful plot behind all the sex and it's well worth reading if just for that.

Forged A Hammer Novel Hammer Club Book 8 edition by Sean Michael Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

This story was a combination of a sweet love story of two men realizing how much the cared for each other and how one met the needs of the other and a story with a very dramatic turn of events that meant that the relationship was challenged and the hard work that went into saving the relationship and each other.
This books is a little different than the other Hammer series books I've read. I love Sean Michael as an author which is why I read the books but I really don't relate to the D/s lifestyle at all. Jeremy and Simon seem much more like a kinkly regular couple than a D/s couple as portrayed in the other books. Jeremy is a strong and healthy personality in his own right and not damaged like Manny and Jim are at the start of their stories. I was genuinely grieved and angered at what happened to him. I wish there were more pages in the series devoted to Jeremy and Simon - Billy and Manny got THREE books - but they do appear in one of the Christmas novellas. If you're not ready to tackle the more hard core D/s books in the series this is a good place to start.
After coming off of a bad relationship with a sub that didn't take the lifestyle seriously Simon was feeling like he would never find the person to meet his needs, until he met the new bouncer at the Hammer, an exclusive members-only club. Jeremy, the big beautiful cowboy with the rock hard body was not the type one would see as submissive, and Simon could not believe his luck when he turned out to not only be submissive but was also interested in him.

Jeremy has always been comfortable with who he is and what he wanted out of life. When he met Simon he knew he wanted more than just one night. Jeremy needed a Dom that wasn't afraid to push his limits, and with Simon he found just what he was looking for in a Dom and in a relationship.

Just when Simon and Jeremy see a happily ever after in their future they are smacked with misfortune that will take everything within them to overcome and survive.

Forged, the follow up book in Sean Michael's Hammer series carry the same caliber of interesting characters as the prequel Bent, but I didn't find the overall story as engrossing as Bent. The relationship in Bent moved me from the start, but I found it took a while for me to warm up to Jeremy and Simon as a couple. They were not the typical D/s couple; at times I wasn't sure who the dominant one in the relationship was. When the strength of their relationship and feelings for each other were tested later in the story I was more drawn to them as a couple, but then I felt the story rushed to get to a conclusion. I was also thrown by the introduction of Ben and the timing in which he appeared; I felt he was an antagonist that was not needed. Forged was a decent story but I didn't find it to be as good and as loving a story as Bent.

PROS
- I'm used to Michael's sub characters being rather repressed and shy (not to mention physically smaller than their Doms), and I was disappointed at first when Jeremy came on so strong and confident in his desires. I grew to appreciate it, though Jeremy is honest and open and unashamed, which makes for a different sort of story from this author. (see cons below also)
- Simon does push Jeremy eventually to do things he's never done before, and I liked that I was able to see Jeremy's uncertainty in those situations. It made his trust in Simon much sweeter.
- The characters' DTR (Define The Relationship) talk and the discussion of their contract is very matter-of-fact, which isn't the most romantic thing in the world, but it did strike me as realistic, which is the way the whole D/s angle of their relationship seemed to me unusually practical and thought-out.
- After the tragedy in the story, Michael does a good job of depicting not only Simon's shock and quiet strength, but also Jeremy's despair and frustration.
- I really, really liked a couple of the secondary characters--and my favorites were entirely separate from the Hammer crowd (that is, not other characters involved in the D/s scene).

CONS
- My main critique of Jeremy's unwavering confidence is that there's very little seduction involved in this book. My favorite BDSM stories tend to go something like this "I want to tie you up." "Heh. No." "Oh, I think you want me to." "Hmm. Maybe." "Come on. You'll like it." "Well. Okay..." Forged is more like this "I want to tie you up." "Awesome. Your place or mine?"
- As much as I found it enlightening to read about a different type of BDSM couple, it was still weird to me how much bigger/stronger/more powerful the sub was than the Dom. I found it strange that when Jeremy and Simon had their serious talks, it was the Dom who was in the sub's lap and not the other way around.

Overall comments This book was not what I was expecting. Even after the tragedy, the relationship felt to me as though the two men were more a couple who get off on kinkiness than people who really NEED D/s, which is the kind of story I prefer. Still, the emotional journey these two characters experience together is touching, so I liked the book overall.
